The project involves the rehabilitation of approximately 1,300 linear feet of large-diameter combined sewer interceptor beneath Beach Channel Drive in Rockaway, Queens. The work includes sliplining existing sewers using centrifugally-cast fiberglass-reinforced polymer mortar (CCFRPM) pipe , annular grouting, confined space monitoring, and coordination with DEP, DOT, and other agencies We are seeking an experienced Construction Inspector with proven sewer infrastructure experience under NYCDDC contracts . The Inspector will support the Resident Engineer and project team in administering and inspecting construction operations, ensuring full compliance with contract documents, NYCDEP and NYCDDC standards, and safety regulations. Key Responsibilities Perform daily inspection of sewer rehabilitation operations, including cleaning, CCTV verification, sliplining installation, grouting, and confined-space activities. Review and document contractor work for conformance with plans, specifications, and permits. Verify materials, quantities, and work progress for payment purposes. Maintain detailed daily inspection reports, including photographs and field measurements. Review contractor payment requests and recommend reasonableness to the Resident Engineer. Identify potential extra-work issues, notify the Resident Engineer, and assist in preparing cost estimates and supporting documentation. Monitor traffic control (MPT), environmental protection, and public safety measures. Oversee confined-space entry procedures and OSHA Subpart AA compliance. Verify annular grouting operations, including mix design, density, and pressure logs. Ensure proper vibration and settlement monitoring where required. Communicate effectively with the Resident Engineer, Assistant RE, contractor staff, and agency representatives. Prepare and maintain documentation in accordance with NYCDDC "Standard Records" and project filing protocols. Support coordination with DEP, DOT, Parks, Con Edison, National Grid, and other involved agencies. Required Qualifications Minimum 5 years of experience inspecting NYC infrastructure projects, including sewer or water-main work under NYCDDC contracts. Bachelors in engineering. Willingness to work night shifts as required by the project's construction schedule. Understanding of sewer lining, grouting, or confined-space rehabilitation methods. Working knowledge of contract administration , including unit-price and lump-sum contracts. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with project software such as
PIMS/PDMS
preferred. Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and shop drawings . Excellent written and verbal communication skills. OSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour Construction Safety Training (required). Confined-Space Entry certification (preferred or must be willing to obtain). Ability to travel daily to Rockaway, Queens.
