Golden, CO (hybrid) Lerch Bates is seeking a Building Enclosure Consultant to support the assessment, investigation, rehabilitation, and restoration of existing building enclosure systems. In this role, you will evaluate roofing, waterproofing, facade, fenestration, and exterior wall systems ; identify sources of deterioration or performance deficiencies; and develop practical repair and restoration solutions that improve long-term building performance and resilience. You will manage projects from initial investigation through construction administration, serving as a trusted advisor to building owners, architects, contractors, and project stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle. This position provides opportunities to lead complex projects, mentor junior staff, perform technical reviews, and build lasting client relationships while helping extend the life of existing buildings.About Lerch Bates:

The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed in this position. Building Enclosure Assessment & Investigation Investigate building envelope issues involving roofing, waterproofing, exterior wall systems, cladding, glazing, sealants, balconies, façades, and other enclosure components. Conduct condition assessments of existing building enclosure systems to identify deterioration, water intrusion, performance deficiencies, and repair needs. Review existing construction documents, previous repairs, and field conditions to identify risks and develop effective restoration strategies. Evaluation & Restoration Design Prepare detailed condition assessment reports documenting findings, repair recommendations, and rehabilitation priorities. Develop practical restoration and repair solutions for existing building enclosure systems. Perform technical peer reviews of reports, repair recommendations, and construction documents prepared by project team members. Design Coordination & Technical Review Collaborate with owners, architects, contractors, and consultants to develop and review restoration strategies. Coordinate preparation of repair drawings, specifications, bid documents, and other construction documentation. Review drawings, details, shop drawings, and submittals to ensure compliance with project objectives and design intent. Project Management & Construction Administration Conduct site observations and quality assurance reviews throughout construction. Prepare site visit reports documenting project progress, field conditions, and construction quality. Provide technical guidance during construction to help resolve field issues and ensure repairs are completed in accordance with design intent. Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, and deliverables for multiple restoration projects. Client Relationships & Leadership Serve as a trusted advisor to clients on building enclosure performance, restoration strategies, and long-term asset management. Communicate technical findings and recommendations clearly through reports, presentations, and client meetings. Build and maintain strong client relationships while identifying opportunities to expand services. Mentor junior consultants and technical staff while supporting their professional development.What You'll Bring:
Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Architecture, Building Science, or related field. Professional Engineer (PE) license required. 5+ years of experience in building enclosure consulting, structural engineering, building science, forensic investigations, restoration consulting, rehabilitation design, or existing building consulting. Experience conducting building condition assessments, investigations, and repair design. Understanding of roofing, waterproofing, facade, fenestration, and exterior wall systems. Strong technical writing and report preparation experience. Preferred Qualifications Experience with building enclosure investigations and water intrusion assessments. Experience in restoration, rehabilitation, modernization, or capital improvement projects. IIBEC credentials (RRO, RRC, RBEC, etc.). Experience with WUFI, THERM, AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, or related software. Why Work with Lerch Bates?
