Job Description

Licensed Electrician - Permit Sitter (DFW)

Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex We are looking for a licensed electrician in the DFW area to assist with electrical permits and inspections for our residential electrical operation. This is a flexible, as-needed opportunity with no full-time field workload or service calls. It may be an especially good fit for retired or semi-retired electricians, experienced electricians looking to step away from daily field work, or licensed electricians looking for supplemental income. Compensation $200 per completed permit/inspection assignment. The number of assignments will vary based on our permit volume and inspection schedules. Some days may have multiple assignments available. Occasionally, two permits/inspections can be completed in the same day, resulting in $400 in compensation for that day. There are no guaranteed daily or weekly hours. What You'll Do Travel to jobsites throughout the DFW metroplex for scheduled electrical inspections Be present onsite for required inspections Meet with city inspectors for traditional in-person inspections Complete virtual inspections from the jobsite when allowed by the city Coordinate with our office regarding permit and inspection scheduling Provide required licensing information and documentation Help ensure permitting and inspection requirements are satisfied with the applicable municipality Virtual Inspections You will still need to be physically present at the jobsite for virtual inspections. However, when a municipality allows a virtual inspection, the inspection can be completed remotely with the city inspector while you're onsite. This can drastically reduce the amount of time spent waiting for an inspector to arrive, allowing the assignment to be completed much more efficiently. Requirements Minimum Residential Wiremans License License must be active and in good standing Electrical permitting and inspection experience preferred Familiarity with DFW municipalities is a plus Reliable transportation Comfortable using a smartphone for virtual inspections Dependable and responsive Available during normal city inspection hours as needed Flexible, As-Needed Work This is not a traditional full-time electrician position. You won't be running service calls or performing installations throughout the day. Assignments are scheduled based on our permit and inspection needs. You are paid $200 for each completed permit/inspection assignment, and there may occasionally be an opportunity to complete two assignments in one day. This is a great opportunity to stay involved in the electrical trade and earn supplemental income without the physical demands and schedule of a traditional field position. Retired and semi-retired licensed electricians are encouraged to apply.
