Typical Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.

m. (Weekends as necessary) Provides administrative and technical support for building permits and inspection activities. Processes permit applications, explains codes and policies, schedules inspections, prepares reports, manages computerized files, and performs frontline customer service within the Community Development Department.
Essential Job Functions:
Manage submission of plans and permit applications via i-Worqs. Assist builders, contractors, and property owners with permit requirements, including windstorm and floodplain. Provide customer support for plan review, permit issuance, and inspection scheduling. Process and issue permits for all construction, modification, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, gas, demolition, and Certificates of Occupancy. Verify contractor qualifications. Provide procedural information on building permits. Verify required documentation on plans/applications before review. Calculate square footage and permit fees. Collect fees and issue approved permits. Scan permits and documents; maintain accurate permit records. Work closely with Building Inspector to maintain inspection accuracy. Support
FEMA SD/SI
inspection and reporting activities. Provide customer service (phones, walk-ins, utilities payments, general inquiries). Close and balance cash drawer; run Journal Register Receipt Detail. Compile daily "Receipt Register Payment" report. Maintain departmental files and documents. Prepare, review, and edit reports with proper grammar and punctuation. Perform data entry for spreadsheets, i-Worqs, and

Estimator. Operate computers, calculators, postage machine, fax, scanner/copier. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Education:
High School Diploma or GED required. Associate degree or higher preferred. Two (2) years of related experience, OR equivalent combination of education/experience. Bilingual (Spanish) preferred. Valid Texas Driver's License with a safe driving record. Must pass background investigation and drug/alcohol test.
Knowledge & Skills:
Knowledge of building permit processes. Knowledge of building codes, windstorm, floodplain, and Elevation Certificates. Knowledge of office practices and procedures. Mathematical competency for calculating and recording numerical data. Ability to read/interpret laws, regulations, and requirements. Ability to communicate clearly with applicants and customers. Ability to adapt to procedural/workload changes. Ability to maintain professionalism under stress. Ability to provide courteous, timely service. Ability to safeguard sensitive/confidential information. Ability to maintain accurate records, documents, and files.
