Please apply on the City website: City of Killeen Employment Opportunities Code Enforcement Officer This position is to ensure the adopted, property maintenance, and life safety codes, city nuisance ordinances and other related codes and standards, are met. The employee will have the responsibility of: Coordinates with Planning, Building Inspections, Environmental, Police, Fire, Solid Waste, and other departments to secure compliance with city codes when enforcement becomes necessary Performing systematic site inspections of properties and building structures to ensure compliance with all applicable city codes and regulatory requirements Performs on-site commercial and residential property inspections Examines abandoned and existing buildings or structures, to ensure thorough structural strength, stability, sanitation, adequate light and ventilation, safety to life and property from fire and other hazards incidents Investigate citizen complaints of code violations, obvious violations observed during site inspections Issue warnings, letters, and citations as appropriate Develop and maintain detailed case files through Code Enforcement software system and case log The work environment will require the employee to: Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts, high and precarious places, or airborne particles As an employee with the city of Killen some benefits are: Health insurance from United Health Care (United Health Care Plus for co-pay) Dental and Vision insurance Life insurance Retirement through TMRS (Optional 4579(b) Accounts) Paid Vacation and Sick Leave 13 paid holidays

Required Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience Graduation from high school or equivalent; and Two (2) years of experience in code enforcement; or Two (2) years of experience in general construction and related fields; or Any equivalent combination of education and experience
Special Requirements:
Must have a valid Texas driver s license within ninety (90) days of hire Must have a valid driver s license by date-of-hire Code Enforcement Officer License or ability to pass the state Code Enforcement Officer test within six (6) months and obtain license within one (1) year of date of hire. Obtain the ICC Property Maintenance & Housing Inspector certification within (12) months and the ICC Zoning Certification within (18) months of employment.
