Job Description
Description Key Responsibilities Lead forensic investigations to identify the root causes of building envelope failures, water intrusion, and performance deficiencies. Evaluate roofing, waterproofing, exterior wall, glazing, and cladding systems for condition, functionality, and long-term performance. Review architectural drawings, specifications, and construction documents to verify compliance with building codes, industry standards, and manufacturer requirements. Perform and oversee field assessments and diagnostic testing, including water infiltration testing, air barrier evaluations, and other envelope performance tests. Conduct site observations and quality assurance inspections during construction to verify proper installation and workmanship. Develop technical reports, findings, repair recommendations, and remediation strategies for clients. Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, owners, and other project stakeholders throughout project execution. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff and project team members. Support proposal development, client presentations, and business development initiatives. Stay current on emerging building envelope technologies, materials, industry standards, and best practices. Promote and maintain a strong safety culture by following company and project-specific safety requirements. Skills Structure, Facilities maintenance, Forensic Top Skills Details Structure,Facilities maintenance,Forensic Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Building Science, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience in building envelope consulting, building science, forensic investigations, or related technical consulting. Strong understanding of roofing, waterproofing, exterior wall systems, glazing, cladding, and moisture management principles. Experience investigating building failures and developing practical repair recommendations. Knowledge of applicable building codes, industry standards, and manufacturer installation requirements. Experience conducting field testing and diagnostics for building envelope systems. Strong technical writing, communication, and client-facing skills. Ability to manage multiple projects independently while meeting deadlines and quality expectations. Proficiency with industry-standard software and documentation tools. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed. Professional licensure or certifications such as PE, RA, RRC, RRO, CDT, CxA, or other relevant credentials are a plus. Experience Level Expert Level Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Antonio, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $75.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
