As a Full-Time Building Inspector I at American Fork City, you will engage in a range of entry-level and para-professional technical duties focused on conducting site inspections for residential, commercial, and industrial structures. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure compliance with established city and state building codes, guaranteeing safety and quality within our community. This role involves assessing the integrity of construction projects, identifying potential issues, and providing valuable feedback to builders and developers. Your keen attention to detail and passion for construction will play a crucial role in maintaining the high standards expected in American Fork, fostering a safe and thriving environment for all residents and businesses.WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL
To excel as a Full-Time Building Inspector I at American Fork City, candidates must possess a blend of technical skills and relevant experience. A high school diploma or equivalent is essential, along with 2-3 years of experience in construction or a related field. Strong knowledge of building codes and regulations is vital for ensuring public safety and compliance. Candidates must hold two ICC certifications, as well as a State of Utah Limited Inspector certification. Furthermore, the ability to complete two additional ICC certifications-such as electrical, building, mechanical, or plumbing-within 12 months of hire will be crucial for ongoing professional development. Proficiency in utilizing inspection software and tools, coupled with effective communication skills, will enable you to interact constructively with contractors, homeowners, and city officials, reinforcing a culture of integrity within American Fork. Knowledge and skills required for the position are: High School diploma or equivalent; 2-3 years of experience in a related field.
