Job Description
Under general supervision, performs plan review in the Building Department. Work involves review of building permits and plans for compliance with Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code (USBC). Work involves review of all residential and commercial plans submitted with the building permit application for a variety of life safety, structural, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, fire alarms and fire sprinkler installations in accordance with the USBC. Duties would also include review of third party and special inspection reports. Employee would be expected to have the skills necessary to perform inspection on permitted work. if required. Employee must also exercise considerable tact, courtesy and firmness in dealing with property owners, contractors and the general public. This position reports to the Building Official.
