Quality Control Inspector (Electrical / Mechanical / Rail)
Location:
Dulles, VA (On-site)
Compensation:
$67,800-$74,700 annually (approximately $32.60-$35.91/hour)
Employment Type:
Full-time | Project-Based (Temporary for 2-3 years with potential extension)

This position supports a 24/7 operation and follows a rotating three-shift schedule. About the Opportunity A leading transportation systems company is seeking a Quality Control Inspector to support a major infrastructure modernization project at a large international airport. This role focuses on inspecting electrical and mechanical installations, testing, commissioning, and construction activities while ensuring work performed by contractors meets project specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with experience in electrical construction, quality inspections, transportation, industrial facilities, data centers, or other mission-critical environments. Responsibilities Perform field inspections of construction, installation, testing, and commissioning activities. Verify electrical and mechanical equipment installations, cabling, wiring, harnessing, and related infrastructure. Ensure contractor work complies with drawings, specifications, and quality requirements. Witness testing activities and review inspection and test documentation. Document inspection results, deficiencies, non-conformances, and corrective actions. Conduct field quality audits and routine quality patrols. Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, engineers, and project managers to resolve quality issues. Support troubleshooting and root cause investigations. Maintain accurate inspection reports and project documentation. Identify and report safety concerns observed during inspections. Support occasional night, weekend, holiday, or off-hours work during critical project milestones. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered. Minimum 3 years of experience in quality control, inspection, electrical construction, commissioning, or a related technical field. Experience inspecting electrical systems, equipment installations, cabling, or industrial facilities. Must be willing and able to work a rotating three-shift schedule. Availability for night shift is required. Must be able to work weekends, holidays, overtime, and other off-hours as needed to support critical project activities. Ability to read construction drawings, electrical schematics, and technical specifications. Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills. Preferred Experience in one or more of the following: Airports Rail or Transit Automated People Movers (APM) Data Centers Industrial Facilities Utilities Mission-Critical Infrastructure Testing & Commissioning Contractor Quality Oversight Physical Requirements Ability to walk active construction sites for extended periods. Ability to climb ladders, access elevated work areas, and lift up to 50 lbs with assistance. Comfortable working around electrical equipment and active construction environments.
