Erosion & Sediment Control Inspector - Stuart Area Hurt & Proffitt - 3.7 Roanoke, VA Job Details Full-time $22 - $26 an hour 5 hours ago Benefits 401(k) matching Employee stock ownership plan Qualifications Mid-level 3 years Organizational skills Communication skills Full Job Description This role is for an Erosion & Sediment Control Inspector, responsible for ensuring construction sites comply with environmental regulations designed to prevent soil erosion and sediment runoff. Key Responsibilities Conduct field inspections at construction sites to verify compliance with erosion and sediment control permits. Inspect erosion control measures such as: Silt fences Sediment basins Perimeter controls Grading activities Review erosion and sediment control plans to ensure they meet Virginia regulations. Document inspection findings and prepare detailed reports. Update project and construction documentation. Perform post-construction inspections. Stay current on Virginia environmental laws and regulations. Travel to job sites, often independently, using a company vehicle. Required Qualifications High school diploma (Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred). Valid Virginia driver's license (or ability to meet licensing requirements) with at least 3 years of licensed driving experience. Virginia DEQ Stormwater and Erosion & Sediment Control (ESC) certification, or the ability to obtain it within 6 months. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Good organizational skills and attention to detail. Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Preferred Qualifications 3-5 years of related experience in construction inspection, environmental compliance, or civil/site development. Self-motivated and able to work independently. Dependable, punctual, and responsive. Work Environment Home-based travel to inspection sites within approximately a 60-mile radius of Stuart, Virginia (also considering candidates from the Roanoke or Danville areas). A company vehicle is provided. Occasional visits to the office may be required. Most of the work is outdoors at active construction sites, with some office work for reporting and documentation. Ideal Candidate This position is well suited for someone who: Enjoys working outdoors and driving between job sites. Is comfortable inspecting construction activities. Has an eye for detail and can write clear reports. Can work independently with minimal supervision. Is interested in environmental compliance and construction quality control. If you have experience in construction, surveying, environmental science, civil engineering, or inspection work, this position could be a strong fit. Even without direct erosion control experience, employers may consider candidates who are willing to obtain the required Virginia DEQ certifications within six months.
Estimated Base Pay Range:
$22 - $26 per hour

Final compensation within this range is determined in good faith and is based on objective factors. These include the candidate's specialized skills, level of experience, geographic location, and specific educational background or certifications.

This position will be eligible for 401(k) matching and ownership through our ESOP and may also be eligible for incentive pay subject to company performance and performance-based raises.
