This role is ideal for someone with an in-depth knowledge of exterior building materials, methods, and common construction types standard to our region. Building Envelope Specialists at NEXUS contribute to field projects by performing inspections, testing, assessments, and investigations.
What You Will Do:
Travel to job sites to perform conditions assessments, forensic investigations to determine failures on existing buildings, and/or site inspections of installed building envelope systems. Travel is typically within the Puget Sound Region, though further travel within Washington State and limited out-of-state travel may be requested. Write field reports and technical reports summarizing observations, findings, and recommendations Attend pre-construction and pre-installation meetings Review RFIs and submittals
What We Are Looking For:
5+ years' professional experience in Architectural design, Engineering, or construction Intermediate knowledge of building envelope systems, roofing, waterproofing, cladding, and related assemblies. Dependable, knowledgeable, and reliable, pays high attention to detail and takes the initiative in their work Self-motivated and can manage their time efficiently Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with clients and team members Additionally (these qualifications are a plus but not required): Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field Desired certifications: RRO/RRC, QAP, CxA+BE, BECx, certified IR Thermographer, Certified Air Barrier Tester, FAA-certified sUAS (drone) pilot
Working Conditions:
This role combines office work and field/site work.
You should be comfortable:
Traveling locally to project sites Climbing ladders and accessing roofs Working outdoors in varying weather Navigating elevated or confined areas as needed Preparing technical documentation and reports Lifting up to 50lbs.
