About Us Edge Broadband (Edge) is a growing fiber and wireless Internet provider serving communities across Southern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois. We own and operate multiple regional networks and brands and we're expanding: building new fiber infrastructure and bringing best-in-class, high-speed Internet to our residential and business customers. We are a local team with decades of experience in the industry. We started with a simple idea: that smaller communities deserve the same quality Internet as big cities. We're hands-on, we take pride in doing the work right, and we're looking for people who want to build something real and local and grow with us for the long term. About the Role We are looking to add a Utility Locator to our growing field operations team. This role is responsible for accurately identifying and marking Edge's buried fiber and infrastructure to prevent damage during third-party excavation work, and to protect both the network and the public. You'll work closely with the Director of Field Operations, our construction crews, and dispatch to respond to locate tickets, coordinate with excavators and municipalities, and ensure Edge Broadband stays fully compliant with state one-call laws. What You'll Do Respond to locate tickets submitted through Diggers Hotline / 811 within required timeframes Accurately locate and mark Edge's buried fiber, conduit, and related infrastructure using electromagnetic locating equipment and site documentation Document locate work thoroughly, including photos, sketches, GPS data, and ticket notes Communicate professionally with excavators, contractors, homeowners, and municipal staff on site Identify and escalate conflicts, unmarked facilities, or potential damage risks Maintain locating equipment, vehicles, and PPE in safe and working condition Coordinate with construction and engineering teams on complex or high-risk locates Support the buildout of Edge's in-house locate program, including helping train additional staff as the team grows Comply with all applicable state one-call laws, OSHA safety standards, and Company policies Who You Are Detail-oriented and accurate: you understand that a missed mark can cause real damage Comfortable working independently in the field, often across multiple jobsites in a day Reliable, accountable, and organized: you manage your tickets, documentation, and time well Professional with customers, contractors, and the public Physically comfortable working outdoors in varied weather, on foot, and in various terrain
What You'll Bring Required:
Valid driver's license and clean driving record High school diploma or equivalent Ability to read and interpret maps, prints, and as-built drawings Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work outdoors year-round, and walk extended distances on jobsites Authorization to work in theUnited States Preferred:
Prior experience performing utility locates (telecom, electric, gas, or water) Familiarity with electromagnetic locating equipment (Vivax, Radiodetection, 3M, or similar) Familiarity with Wisconsin Diggers Hotline / 811 processes Experience with GIS tools, GPS equipment, or construction management software (Vetro, Vitruvi, etc.) NULCA certification or equivalent training Experience in telecom, fiber, or underground utility construction Benefits Hourly Pay Starting at $23.00/hour depending on experience Medical, dental, and vision insurance Company-paid life and disability coverage 401(k) with employer match Paid time off and paid holidays Company vehicle, equipment, and PPE providedWhy Join Us Growth:
