POSITION SUMMARY
Jalisco International, Inc. is seeking an experienced Crane Operator to support heavy highway, bridge, and civil construction projects. This role is responsible for safely and efficiently operating cranes for road and bridge construction, structural work, material handling, concrete operations, and other heavy civil activities. The ideal candidate has strong experience operating cranes in an active construction environment. They understand crane setup, lift requirements, and safe operating practices, and they work effectively with foremen, field crews and project management.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Safely and efficiently operate assigned cranes in accordance with manufacturer requirements, OSHA standards, project requirements, and Jalisco safety policies. Perform crane setup, positioning, and operation based on site conditions, load requirements, crane capacity, and project needs. Read and properly apply load charts, including boom configuration, radius, capacity, and operating limitations. Perform daily pre-operational inspections and document equipment condition. Inspect crane components, wire rope, rigging, safety devices, and operating systems; promptly report defects or required repairs. Coordinate lifts with foremen, riggers, signal persons, and other members of the project team. Recognize site hazards including overhead utilities, unstable ground conditions, traffic, personnel, structures, and other equipment. Assist with lift planning and ensure lifts are performed within the rated capacity and configuration of the crane. Perform lifting operations associated with bridge construction, structural concrete, pile driving, shoring, drainage, and other heavy civil work. Maintain required crane inspection, certification, and operating documentation. Participate in daily safety meetings and job hazard analyses. Maintain assigned equipment and perform routine cleaning and basic preventive maintenance. Work cooperatively with the field crew and assist with other construction activities when crane operations are not required. Follow company, OSHA, federal, state, and project-specific safety and environmental requirements.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Current NCCCO certification Minimum 3-5 years of crane operating experience, preferably in heavy highway/heavy civil construction. Bridge construction experience is strongly preferred. Rough terrain and Boom truck experience. Demonstrated ability to read and understand crane load charts. Competency & strong knowledge of crane setup, ground conditions, rigging practices, standard hand signals, and safe lifting procedures. Ability to read construction plans and follow written and verbal instructions. Strong understanding of OSHA crane and construction safety requirements. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. CDL and all required state license and certifications up to date.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This is a field-based construction position performed primarily outdoors. Employees may work around moving equipment, active traffic, elevated structures, uneven terrain, dust, noise, vibration, and varying weather conditions including heat, cold, wind, rain, and snow.
Schedule:
Typically Monday-Friday, with hours varying by project. Night and weekend work may be required.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Employment is subject to drug testing requirements prior to and during employment. Crane operators must maintain all certifications and qualifications required for the equipment they operate.
