Full Job Description General Purpose:
The SCM Crane Operator safely and efficiently handles, moves, and positions materials, parts, and products required for production. The operator uses overhead cranes to transport raw materials, components, and finished goods between different stages of production and storage.Job Summary:
The SCM Crane Operator is responsible for operating and rigging cranes to move steel from the outside stock area to the rolling area in the production facility. This role ensures the efficient and safe handling of raw materials, semi-finished products, and other items required in the production process in compliance with operational standards and safety regulations.Responsibilities:
◆ Safely operate cranes to lift, move, and position heavy materials and equipment in the production area. Must understand the flow to the rollers in the same area. ◆ Responsible for cutting plate/flange stabilizers, unloading plate/flanges off railcars, and ensuring they are put into designated areas. ◆ Inspect crane equipment and perform routine maintenance checks to ensure proper functioning. ◆ Load and unload materials as needed from trucks, conveyors, and storage areas. ◆ Transport raw materials, components, and finished goods between production lines and storage areas.Perform transfer transactions in SAP. ◆ Ensure proper storage and handling of materials, following safety and quality guidelines. ◆ Focus efforts on achieving high-quality results consistent with standards. ◆ Strive for continuous improvements to reduce lead time and achieve results. ◆ Prepare reports on material usage, crane operations, and equipment issues. ◆ Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines during crane operation. ◆ Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate crane operations and maintain production flow.
Education, Training, and Skills Required:
◆ High school diploma or equivalent required: crane certificate preferred. ◆ 1 year experience in heavy fabrication, assembly, construction, or another related field. ◆ Must read and interpret production drawings and technical work instructions. ◆ Must be able to use a computer; prior experience with control systems is a plus. ◆ Strong attention to detail with a focus on producing high-quality work. ◆ Excellent organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. ◆ Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities. ◆ Commitment to safety and adherence to all relevant safety regulations and procedures.
