Job Description
Turner Staffing Group is seeking a motivated, safety-focused Geotechnician to support drilling and core processing operations for a copper exploration project in the San Manuel, Arizona area. This position is ideal for candidates with experience handling drill core, geological sampling, field support, or mining operations. This is not a relocation opportunity. Candidates who currently reside in the North Tucson, Oro Valley, San Manuel, Oracle, Mammoth, or surrounding areas are strongly preferred. Key Responsibilities Process and organize drill core in the core shack while ensuring accurate labeling and footage verification. Clean drill core and verify depth markings, orientation lines, and interval information. Perform feet-to-meter conversions and maintain accurate core measurements. Capture core photography and collect magnetic susceptibility, density, spectral, and other geological measurements. Transport drill core between the drill site, laboratory, and warehouse as needed. Conduct routine quality control checks and assist with field activities. Handle, move, and organize core boxes using pallet jacks, forklifts, or manual lifting techniques. Operate wet saws to cut core samples following established QA/QC procedures. Prepare samples for laboratory shipment and maintain sample tracking documentation. Complete cutting logs, laboratory submission forms, and digital data entry. Store logged core and maintain warehouse organization. Assist geologists with exploration activities as required. Maintain housekeeping standards and comply with all site safety procedures and PPE requirements. Qualifications Previous experience as a geotechnical technician, core technician, mining technician, geological technician, or similar field is preferred. Experience working around drill core, geological sampling, exploration drilling, or mining operations is highly desirable. Comfortable using Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications. Experience with digital data entry, tablets, and field software. Ability to perform measurements, calculations, and work accurately with numerical data. Experience using digital cameras for documentation is an asset.
