Job Description

Directional Drill Operator Assistant Starting Pay:
$38 per hour plus healthcare and 401(k) Job Overview BPS Underground is looking for a dependable, mechanically minded person to join our directional drilling crew as a Directional Drill Operator Assistant. In this role, you will work directly with the drill operators and help with drill locating, pullbacks, equipment setup, underground utility work, vault installation, and general jobsite operations. You will also help maintain equipment and solve practical problems as they come up in the field. This is a hands-on position working around some really cool specialized drilling and construction equipment. The work is active and outdoors, but it is not nonstop heavy labor. We are looking for someone who pays attention, communicates well, enjoys working around machines, and is eager to learn. Responsibilities Assist the directional drill operator with setup and day-to-day drilling operations Locate and mark the underground drill head during drilling Maintain clear communication with the drill operator throughout each bore Assist with conduit pullbacks Assist with daylighting utilities Help set underground vaults and complete related installation work Prepare tools, materials, and equipment for each job Routine maintenance on drilling and construction equipment Troubleshoot mechanical or jobsite issues Material handling, site organization, cleanup, and equipment storage What We Are Looking For We are looking for someone who is reliable, attentive, practical, and interested in learning the directional drilling and underground construction trade. Experience in construction or the trades, equipment operation, or other mechanical fields is preferred. Mechanical aptitude is especially valuable. We want someone who can understand how equipment works, notice when something is not operating correctly, and help the crew work through practical problems. A valid Class A or Class B commercial driver's license is not required but preferred.
