Job Description
Underground Drilling Laborer Blackridge Utilities is looking for dependable, hardworking Underground Drilling Laborers to assist with underground utility and fiber installation projects. This is a hands-on, outdoor position supporting underground cable fiber drilling crews. Previous underground construction or drilling experience is preferred, but we are willing to train motivated entry-level applicants who are dependable, safety-conscious, and willing to learn. Job Duties Assist the drill operators, locators, and crew leaders with daily drilling operations Help prepare and set up equipment, tools, drilling rods, conduit, and materials Assist with installing underground conduit and fiber pathways Perform hand digging, potholing, trenching, backfilling, and general excavation work Load, unload, move, and organize tools and construction materials and vehicles Help maintain drilling equipment cleanliness and keep work areas clean and organized Watch for underground utilities, equipment movement, and other jobsite hazards Follow company and jobsite safety procedures Perform other general labor duties needed to complete each project Schedule and Travel Typical work hours are Monday-Friday 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Workdays and hours may vary depending on the project, weather, production needs, and travel schedule. Weekend work may be required depending on the project, weather, production needs, and travel schedule.. This position requires regular travel to project locations throughout Florida and potentially other areas. Applicants should expect to work away from home approximately 50% of the time or more , depending on project assignments. Overnight stays and extended periods away from home may be required. Preferred Skills and Qualifications Previous underground utility, directional drilling, fiber construction, excavation, or general construction experience is preferred Entry-level applicants are welcome to apply; training may be provided Strong work ethic, dependable attendance and a goal-focused attitude Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a crew Willingness to learn underground drilling and utility construction Ability to work outdoors in heat, rain, mud, and changing weather conditions Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, carrying, bending, digging, and standing for extended periods Safety-minded and aware of surroundings Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred Experience operating construction equipment, driving trailers, or working around underground utilities is a plus Compensation $170-$250 per day , depending on experience, skills, assigned responsibilities, and project requirements. This is a contract opportunity. Additional details regarding the working arrangement, travel expectations, project assignments, and compensation will be discussed during the interview process.
