We are growing, and we are looking for an experienced Outside Plant (OSP) Technician to support the design and deployment of telecommunications infrastructure. This position is responsible for designing, planning, and supporting outside plant fiber and network projects, including underground construction. The ideal candidate will have experience with telecommunications, utility construction, or outside plant environments and be comfortable performing outside field work. Role and Responsibilities Drives/Operates Horizontal Directional Drill for installation of underground telecommunications cable conduit, including fiber optic cable Drives and/or operates diesel or gasoline powered equipment to/from/on jobsite (Backhoe, Trencher, Directional Bore, Digger Derrick, Pole/Bucket Truck) Locates other buried wiring/cabling Install underground telecommunications conduit and fiber. Flagging (directing safe coordination of vehicles and equipment within the general public areas where worksites are active) Property or worksite restoration Inspect equipment, work quality, specifications, etc. of work crews Performs general construction work (including physical labor i.e., using hand tools, lifting materials on average up to 50 lbs., etc.) Performs all tasks according to directions, produces quality work, maintains safe working habits/conditions according to all Federal, State, and Company regulations and policies Predominantly outdoors environment Must be able to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel and reach Must be able to speak, write, read, and understand English Frequently work at fast pace with unscheduled interruptions Must have visual acuity Operates various tools for the work (manual digging devices, wrenches, hammers, come-along, jack hammer and handline etc.). All other duties as required or requested by Supervisors. Reports all potential equipment and crew safety hazards to Foreperson. Performs other duties as necessary
Requirements:
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
AUTHORIZED TO WORK IN THE UNITED STATES FOR THIS COMPANY
    HAVE A CURRENT AND VALID DRIVER'S LICENSE WITH MINIMUM NEGATIVE DRIVING HISTORY
      ABLE TO DEMONSTRATE THE ABILITY TO FOLLOW DIRECTIONS, PRODUCE QUALITY WORK, MAINTAIN SAFE WORKING HABITS/CONDITIONS ACCORDING TO ALL FEDERAL, STATE, AND COMPANY REGULATIONS AND POLICIES
        HAVE THE ABILITY TO COMMUNICATE EFFECTIVELY WITH CUSTOMERS, EMPLOYEES, ETC.
          ABLE TO LIFT/CARRY 50 LBS REGULARLY AND UP TO 75 LBS AS NEEDED WITH OR WITHOUT ASSISTANCE
            ABLE TO WORK AS NEEDED
            (OVER-TIME, AFTER
            HOURS, SOME WEEKENDS, EMERGENCY AND IN ALL WEATHER CONDITIONS.
