This is a full-time position for someone who can safely operate directional drilling equipment, work productively with an underground crew, and complete quality installations while protecting existing utilities and property.

Responsibilities:

Operate HDD equipment for underground fiber-optic construction Perform daily equipment inspections and routine maintenance Review bore profiles, utility markings and construction plans Work closely with the locator, foreman and ground crew Mix and manage drilling fluids based on soil conditions Monitor tooling, pitch, depth and bore alignment Safely complete roadway, driveway and utility crossings Assist with potholing, excavation, conduit placement and restoration when needed Maintain accurate daily production and job documentation Follow OSHA requirements, customer specifications and company safety procedures Immediately report utility conflicts, equipment problems or job site issues

Qualifications:

Previous experience operating HDD equipment is required Experience with Vermeer or Ditch Witch drills is preferred Fiber-optic or telecommunications construction experience is strongly preferred Knowledge of underground utility markings and safe excavation practices Ability to read construction prints and bore plans Ability to work outdoors in changing weather and soil conditions Dependable transportation and a strong attendance record Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record CDL is preferred but not required for every position Must be willing to travel when projects require it Must meet company and customer safety requirements
