Job Description

Purpose The Drill Operator position is responsible for safely performing skilled work which focuses on the operation of a drill utilized for blasting (rock removal) on construction projects. Job Responsibilities Operate drill to prepare construction area for blasting. Perform servicing and maintenance of equipment as scheduled and required. May operate a variety of equipment dependent upon skill set including, but not limited to skid steers, loaders and dozers. Performs a variety of tasks associated with blasting operations including job site labor duties. Participates in cross training activities. Operates all equipment and tools according to safety procedures and performs all manual labor activities in a safe manner. Education and Experience 2+ years' experience operating a drill. Skills and Specifications Thorough understanding of various aspects of the blasting industry and all types of blasting equipment. Operate equipment with a high degree of competency, skill, and proficiency. Knowledge of basic maintenance of operating equipment. Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule. Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time, and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Experience working in a team environment.
