We're looking for someone with hands-on experience operating and/or locating directional drilling equipment who understands the importance of safety, communication, and teamwork in the field. Our drill crews typically work in two-person teams, with a third team member added for larger projects. Approximately 90% of our projects are local to the Portland Metro area, so our crews are home most nights. For experienced operators interested in taking the next step, this position also offers the opportunity to grow into a Drill Foreman role. What You'll Do Operate and/or locate horizontal directional drilling equipment Work closely with the Drill Foreman and other crew members to safely complete bores Read and understand utility locates and jobsite conditions Transport trucks, trailers, drilling equipment, and materials to and from jobsites Assist with equipment setup, operation, and jobsite cleanup Monitor drilling conditions and communicate clearly between the operator and locator Inspect and help maintain drilling equipment, vehicles, trailers, and tools Troubleshoot field and equipment issues as needed Maintain safe work practices at all times Support efficient, high-quality completion of each project What We're Looking For Previous directional drilling and/or locating experience Experience operating or locating drill equipment Valid Class A CDL required for positions responsible for towing service truck/trailer combinations Experience towing trailers and equipment to and from jobsites Understanding of utility locates and safe drilling practices Strong communication and teamwork skills Ability to work safely and efficiently in an active construction environment Dependable, self-motivated, and willing to take ownership of your work Interest in growing into a Foreman position is a plus Compensation & Benefits $35-$45 per hour DOE Lovett offers: 100% employer-paid medical insurance 401(k) with 3% company match Paid holidays and paid time off Low-cost dental and vision insurance Primarily local Portland Metro work — home most nights Opportunity to advance into a Drill Foreman position Stable employment with an established company If you're an experienced Drill Operator or Locator looking for steady local work, competitive pay, and an opportunity to grow, we'd like to hear from you.
