The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, understands underground utility construction, and can consistently complete projects safely, accurately, and on schedule. Responsibilities Operate horizontal directional drilling equipment for fiber and utility installations Read and interpret bore plans, utility maps, and construction drawings Safely drill, ream, and pull back conduit and HDPE Locate and maintain accurate bore paths and depths Perform pre-bore inspections and identify potential underground conflicts Communicate with the locator and ground crew throughout the bore Troubleshoot drilling equipment and resolve common drilling issues Maintain drilling equipment and report mechanical problems Follow OSHA, company, and job-site safety requirements Maintain accurate daily production and job documentation Coordinate with foremen, supervisors, locators, and other crews Maintain a clean and organized work area Lead by example and maintain a professional attitude on the jobsite

Qualifications Required:

Previous horizontal directional drilling experience Experience with underground fiber or utility construction Ability to operate HDD equipment safely and efficiently Ability to read plans and understand bore profiles Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Valid driver's license Strong communication and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and as part of a crew

Preferred:

Experience with Vermeer, Ditch Witch, or similar HDD equipment (JT20-mach1) Experience with larger-diameter conduit installation Experience working around existing utilities Knowledge of underground fiber construction CDL or ability to obtain one Previous crew-lead or foreman experience What We're Looking For The right candidate is dependable, safety-minded, mechanically capable, and willing to take ownership of their work .
