Full-Time Overview Drill-Tech is seeking an HDD Equipment Operator to support horizontal directional drilling crews on underground utility projects in Richmond, Virginia. Headquartered in Chester, Maryland, Drill-Tech performs HDD and underground utility work throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. This is a hands-on field position responsible for operating HDD equipment and supporting drilling operations while working closely with foremen, locators, and crew members. Responsibilities Operate HDD equipment during drilling operations Assist with drilling, reaming, pullback, and pipe installation Operate support equipment including skid steers, excavators, and loaders Perform daily equipment inspections and preventative maintenance Assist with mud mixing and drilling fluid management Support equipment mobilization and demobilization Work closely with foremen, locators, and field crews Maintain safe work practices and jobsite standards Qualifications Experience operating HDD equipment or related heavy equipment Experience with Vermeer 23x30, 24x40, or similar directional drills preferred Experience operating skid steers, excavators, loaders, or similar equipment Valid driver's license Ability to work outdoors and travel as project needs require Preferred Qualifications Class
A CDL OSHA
10 or OSHA 30 Certification Experience operating Vermeer 100-series drills or larger HDD equipment Experience with 300,000 lb or 500,000 lb maxi rigs Experience with mud systems, drilling fluids, pumps, and recyclers Experience with DigiTrak or ParaTrack locating systems Experience with McElroy fusion equipment Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance Vision insurance Paid holidays Opportunities for advancement within a growing HDD contractor
