Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Commercial Drywall Laborer with 2 to 3+ years of trade experience for a project in Downtown Houston. Working under minimal supervision within an active healthcare construction environment, you will be responsible for installing heavy-gauge metal studs, framing, hanging drywall, and executing precise cuts. This role requires strict adherence to institutional safety standards and the ability to work efficiently around complex mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems.
Key Responsibilities Commercial Installation:
Frame heavy or light-gauge metal studs and hang commercial-grade impact-resistant or fire-rated drywall panels.System Layout & Cutting:
Measure and make precision cuts around complex hospital infrastructure, including medical gas lines, electrical boxes, HVAC ductwork, and specialized observation unit layouts.Finishing & Taping:
Apply joint compound, embed fiberglass mesh, and execute clean taping and fine sanding to meet high-level commercial finish specifications.Material Coordination:
Securely transport, load, and stock large quantities of commercial drywall sheets and framing materials across multi-story layouts. Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) protocols, dust containment rules, and OSHA safety standards required in an active healthcare environment.Qualifications and Skills Experience:
2-3 years of dedicated commercial drywall installationTechnical Skills:
Proficiency with commercial tools including drywall routers, lasers, screw guns, and reading layout tape measures down to 1/16th of an inch.Physical Strength:
Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver commercial-weight drywall sheets and metal framing components up to 80 pounds.
