High School Electricity TeacherTurn Your Electrical Experience Into a Career That Builds the Future Pulaski County Public Schools is looking for an experienced electrical professional who is ready to take their skills from the jobsite to the classroom. If you have spent your career wiring homes, businesses, or industrial facilities, supervising crews, training apprentices, troubleshooting electrical systems, or working with the National Electrical Code, this is an opportunity to use that experience in a completely new way: teaching high school students how to become skilled electricians. You do not have to be a licensed teacher to apply. We are looking for someone who knows the electrical trade and is excited about sharing that knowledge with the next generation. Your professional electrical experience, apprenticeship training, industry credentials, and trade knowledge may qualify you for a Virginia teaching license in Electricity. Help students develop the safety habits, technical skills, professionalism, and work ethic employers expect. Mentor young people as they begin building successful careers in the electrical industry. Continue working in the electrical profession in a new capacity while following a 10-month school calendar .

Minimum Qualifications Applicants must possess:

High school diploma or approved high school equivalency credential. Demonstrated competency in the electrical trade. Sufficient occupational experience in the electrical trade to meet Virginia licensure requirements.

Qualifying experience may include:

Journeyman-level or equivalent electrical work. Completion of a registered apprenticeship. Supervisory or management-level electrical experience. Other qualifying electrical training and occupational experience.

Applicants must also:

Be eligible to obtain a Virginia teaching license to teach Electricity. Applicants do not need to currently hold a teaching license. Meet all Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) and Pulaski County Public Schools employment, background-check, safety-training, and licensure requirements. Preferred Qualifications Strong candidates may possess one or more of the following: Current Virginia Journeyman or Master Electrician license. Completion of a registered electrical apprenticeship program. Significant residential, commercial, or industrial electrical experience. Journeyman-level or equivalent electrical experience. Supervisory or management experience in the electrical trade. Knowledge and experience with the National Electrical Code (NEC). Experience with electrical safety standards and safe work practices. Experience preparing individuals for apprenticeship programs or industry credentials. Additional certifications or credentials related to the electrical trade. Experience teaching, training, supervising, coaching, or mentoring students, apprentices, or employees. No Teaching License? Don't Let That Stop You From Applying. Final licensure eligibility and endorsement approval are determined by the Virginia Department of Education. However, applicants who do not currently hold a Virginia teaching license are strongly encouraged to apply if they have qualifying electrical trade experience, apprenticeship training, occupational experience, or industry credentials.
