In this hands-on role, you'll diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, brake, steering, suspension, and drivetrain systems; perform preventative maintenance and safety inspections; and troubleshoot everything from wiring and electronic engine controls to complex equipment malfunctions. You'll work with a variety of diagnostic tools, research and order repair parts, maintain accurate electronic maintenance records, and help ensure shop tools and equipment meet safety requirements. Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to follow written and oral instructions are also important for success. At least six months of experience in the vehicle, equipment, or small engine repair industry is required. Journeyman-level certification may be preferred or beneficial. You must have and maintain a current valid Alaska driver's license and provide basic tools appropriate for performing the work required.

Minimum Qualifications:

All positions require a High School Diploma or equivalent and a valid Alaska drivers license with a clean driving record, meeting University of Alaska safe driving standards. Must have Class A CDL with Passenger Endorsement or be able and willing to obtain within 6 months of hire. CT1: May possess journeyman level certification. Requires apprentice level or other equivalent certification appropriate to the specific trade; with a minimum of three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. CT2: Journeyman level or equivalent certification in a specialized field including but not limited to carpentry, plumbing or electrical; or a minimum of ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. This position may be filled at the CT1 or CT2 level, depending on the selected candidate's experience.
