An Electrician works on electrical systems in buildings. Installs electrical wiring and lighting in new construction, and repairs or upgrade wiring, outlets or other parts of older electrical systems. Checks safety and makes installations or repairs that are in compliance with local building codes. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
: Graduation from a standard senior high school, or the successful completion of the General Educational Development (GED) test, completion of a trade school or apprenticeship program in electrical work and a minimum of one year journeyman level electrical experience; or a combination of education and experience equivalent to these requirements.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
: Must possess a Journeyman Electrician certificate from the Board of Electrical Examiners; Mobile Area Water and Sewer System requires a Master Electrician certificate. Must possess a valid driver's license from state of residence. May be required to possess a commercial driver's license with appropriate endorsements, including air brake endorsement, if applicable.
