Farmblox is an ag-tech company headquartered in Santa Cruz, California, providing monitoring and automation solutions for growers. Farmblox gives growers the tools to build their own farm monitoring systems by connecting in-field sensors and equipment to a simple, easy-to-use app that helps quickly alert issues and streamline on-farm responses. Farmblox brings multiple field technologies together into one unified system, including theft prevention, soil moisture monitoring, weather stations, pressure sensors, tank level sensors, pump automation, and more.
Position Overview:
The Electrical Systems Installation Technician is responsible for independently completing standardized
COP-R-LOCK
hardware installations at agricultural pump sites and electrical enclosures throughout the San Joaquin Valley. This role requires journeyman-level field installation experience, strong mechanical and low-voltage electrical aptitude, and the ability to work independently with professionalism and consistency. Farmblox provides materials and full product training. Installers are responsible for supplying their own tools, workmanship, and carrying their own liability insurance as an independent subcontractor.
Key Responsibilities Field Installation:
Complete full
COP-R-LOCK
site installations (installation typically requires approximately 3-4 hours per site) including: Safely power down equipment prior to installation and follow proper lock-out/tag-out procedures Perform minor digging as required to route and secure sensor wiring below conduit Mount 12-15 ft pole securing Base Station, Solar Kit, and Alarm Kit Install security sensors within electrical panels, including VFD enclosures and junction boxes at pump sites Route and secure sensor wiring both inside and outside of electrical conduit Install Motion Distance Sensors inside electrical cabinets Drill small routing holes for cable management where required Secure watertight connections using liquid-tight fittings or equivalent Splice and terminate sensor wiring as required for proper installation Ensure clean cable routing and professional finish Follow Farmblox installation standards and documentation procedures Maintain clear communication with the Farmblox team regarding scheduling and job completion Submit install verification photos and required documentation upon completion
Professional Standards:
Work safely in outdoor agricultural environments around pumps, poles, and electrical panels Maintain high-quality workmanship with minimal call-backs or rework Travel throughout the San Joaquin Valley as scheduled Present a professional appearance and represent Farmblox positively on customer sites Adhere to all applicable safety standards and job-site best practices Maintain punctuality, reliability, and clear communication at all times
Qualifications:
Required Journeyman-level field installation experience (electrical, irrigation, mechanical, solar, or security systems) Proven ability to independently complete field-based hardware installations Strong understanding of low-voltage wiring and cable routing practices Own tools and reliable transportation Ability to travel throughout the San Joaquin Valley Must carry your own general liability insurance as an independent subcontractor Professional conduct and commitment to jobsite safety Preferred Experience working on agricultural pump systems Background in irrigation or ag equipment installation Small crew capability (1-2 installers) Experience working as an independent contractor
