Residential Service Electrician - JS Electric JS Electric is hiring an experienced Residential Service Electrician to join our growing team. This position requires a minimum of 2 years of actual, hands-on electrical field experience. This is not an entry-level position or a position for someone with trade-school experience only. Applicants must have real-world experience performing electrical work in the field. This position is based in Bakersfield, CA, with service work throughout Bakersfield and our expanding service areas. Applicants must be willing to drive to jobs outside of Bakersfield as needed. Most travel is same-day, with employees returning home after the workday. Responsibilities Perform residential electrical service calls, troubleshooting, repairs, and installations Diagnose electrical problems including loss of power, tripping breakers, shorts, faulty switches, outlets, lighting, and other electrical issues Install and repair outlets, switches, GFCIs, lighting fixtures, ceiling fans, dedicated circuits, EV chargers, panels, subpanels, and other electrical equipment Run new electrical wiring and circuits when required Perform residential remodel and service-related electrical work Complete work safely and in accordance with applicable electrical codes and company standards Communicate professionally with homeowners and customers Explain electrical issues and completed repairs clearly when needed Keep job sites, tools, materials, and company vehicles clean and organized Properly document work completed on service calls Drive company vehicles to service calls in Bakersfield and surrounding service areas Requirements Minimum 2 years of actual hands-on electrical field experience required Residential electrical and service/troubleshooting experience strongly preferred Trade school or electrical program completion alone does not count as field experience Applicants who recently graduated from San Joaquin Valley College or another electrical trade school with no actual in-the-field electrical work experience will not be considered Must have your own basic hand tools and basic power tools Must have a valid driver's license Must have a clean driving record No DUIs Must be able to drive a company vehicle Driving record will be screened as part of the hiring process Must be able to pass a drug test Must be willing to drive to service calls outside of Bakersfield and throughout our expanding service areas Must be dependable, punctual, and reliable Must be able to work independently as well as with other electricians and apprentices Must have strong electrical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Must be comfortable working from ladders and in attics, crawl spaces, and other residential work areas Must be able to safely lift and carry tools, ladders, materials, and electrical equipment Must maintain a professional appearance and attitude Strong customer service and communication skills are required Must follow company safety procedures and electrical codes Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is an experienced electrician who is comfortable performing residential service work and troubleshooting, not just new construction. You should be able to arrive at a customer's property, evaluate the electrical issue, determine the repair needed, and complete the work safely and professionally. Experience with electrical troubleshooting, panels, subpanels, EV chargers, dedicated circuits, lighting, ceiling fans, remodels, and residential service calls is preferred.
