What they do
An Electrician works on electrical systems in buildings. Installs electrical wiring and lighting in new construction, and repairs or upgrade wiring, outlets or other parts of older electrical systems. Checks safety and makes installations or repairs that are in compliance with local building codes. May also specialize in electrical work required in different manufacturing industries, electrical systems for cars, plane or boats, or electrical and lighting work in the film industry.

Job Description
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of:
Applicable laws regulating the safe operating and repair practices for building mechanical systems including building codes, construction standards, environmental agency requirements and life safety standards. Basic operations, tools, and terms used in building operations and maintenance. Ability to : Work efficiently under pressure. Understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Respond to emergency callbacks on matters affecting maintenance and safety. Perform a wide variety of building maintenance tasks. Support and complement the educational mission of the District. Follow recommended procedures and techniques to safely perform duties. Keep abreast of current technologies in areas of assignment. Candidates must clearly demonstrate through their application material that they meet the minimum qualifications of the position.
