An Electrician works on electrical systems in buildings. Installs electrical wiring and lighting in new construction, and repairs or upgrade wiring, outlets or other parts of older electrical systems. Checks safety and makes installations or repairs that are in compliance with local building codes. May also specialize in electrical work required in different manufacturing industries, electrical systems for cars, plane or boats, or electrical and lighting work in the film industry.

Job Description
Duties:
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and equipment in industrial settings.
- Inspect electrical components, such as transformers and circuit breakers, to identify hazards and defects.
- Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
- Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures using testing devices such as ohmmeters.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical code specifications to determine layout of industrial electrical equipment installations.
- Install, bend and cut electrical conduit and pull wire through conduit.
- Installing, programming and maintaining Programmable Logic Controls. (PLC)
- Perform preventative maintenance on electrical systems to ensure efficient operation
