An Electrician works on electrical systems in buildings. Installs electrical wiring and lighting in new construction, and repairs or upgrade wiring, outlets or other parts of older electrical systems. Checks safety and makes installations or repairs that are in compliance with local building codes. May also specialize in electrical work required in different manufacturing industries, electrical systems for cars, plane or boats, or electrical and lighting work in the film industry.
Available on Select Projects The Opportunity Byers Industrial Services is hiring experienced Licensed Journeyman Electricians for commercial and industrial electrical projects throughout Maryland and Delaware. We are looking for skilled, dependable electricians who can work independently, read electrical drawings, install conduit and electrical systems, troubleshoot problems, and consistently produce safe, code-compliant work. Candidates must hold an active Journeyman Electrician license in Maryland and/or Delaware. Candidates licensed in BOTH states will receive priority consideration. This is a full-time position supporting multiple projects, not a single-project assignment. Work locations and weekly hours will vary based on current project demands. Pay, Overtime & Earning Potential $34.00-$40.00/hour, based on experience and qualifications Prevailing wage rates available on select projects Time-and-a-half after 40 hours Automatic time-and-a-half on Saturdays Automatic double time on Sundays 40-60+ hours per week depending on project demands Significant overtime and earning potential What You'll Be Doing Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial and industrial electrical systems Install and bend EMT and rigid conduit Measure, cut, thread, and layout conduit and raceway systems Install cable tray, supports, hangers, panels, disconnects, transformers, motors, and electrical equipment Pull, route, identify, and terminate conductors and cables Perform electrical troubleshooting using multimeters and other testing equipment Work with electrical distribution, power, and control systems Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, one-lines, panel schedules, and construction drawings Ensure installations meet NEC, local code, project specifications, and safety requirements Coordinate with foremen, project management, and other trades Maintain high standards for safety, quality, and workmanship What We're Looking For Active Maryland and/or Delaware Journeyman Electrician License Dual Maryland & Delaware licensure strongly preferred - dual-licensed candidates receive priority consideration Strong commercial and/or industrial electrical experience Solid knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) Proficiency bending and installing EMT and rigid conduit Experience pulling and terminating conductors Ability to read and work directly from electrical drawings and schematics Strong electrical troubleshooting skills Experience with electrical distribution systems and equipment Ability to work independently and complete installations with limited supervision Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Willingness to work at project locations throughout Maryland and Delaware Ability to work overtime and varying schedules based on project requirements Preferred Experience Industrial electrical construction Motors, transformers, and power distribution Large conduit and conductor installations Control wiring and low-voltage systems PLC/industrial controls Renovation and retrofit projects OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Benefits Year-Round Work Health Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance 401(k) with 4% Company Match Paid Time Off Paid Holidays Overtime Opportunities Prevailing Wage Opportunities on Select Projects Join Byers Industrial Services If you're a licensed Journeyman Electrician looking for competitive pay, strong overtime potential, prevailing wage opportunities, and consistent work across Maryland and Delaware, we want to hear from you.
