This is not an entry-level role, and it is not intended for electricians whose experience is primarily new construction, commercial, or installation work. We are specifically looking for someone with at least 5 years of hands-on residential service experience , including extensive troubleshooting and direct customer interaction. What You Will Be Doing As a Lead Residential Service Electrician, you will handle residential electrical service calls throughout our service area and help set the standard for technical quality and customer experience in the field.
Responsibilities include:
Diagnosing residential electrical problems accurately and efficiently Troubleshooting intermittent, complex, and difficult electrical issues Performing electrical system evaluations and identifying safety or reliability concerns Repairing and replacing electrical components, devices, circuits, and equipment Evaluating electrical panels, breakers, grounding, bonding, and service equipment Performing panel upgrades and related service work Troubleshooting lighting, receptacle, breaker, circuit, and power-quality concerns Explaining electrical problems to homeowners in clear, understandable language Presenting repair and improvement options professionally Providing accurate information so customers can make informed decisions Completing high-quality work while maintaining clean and professional jobsites Documenting findings, recommendations, photos, and completed work accurately Following company service procedures and safety standards Communicating effectively with dispatch, management, and other field technicians Helping less-experienced technicians when needed Taking ownership of callbacks, customer concerns, and difficult service situations Representing Cross Wired professionally in every customer interaction Minimum Qualifications Applicants must have: At least 5 years of residential electrical service experience Extensive hands-on troubleshooting experience Strong knowledge of residential electrical systems Experience diagnosing electrical problems rather than simply installing from plans Strong understanding of panels, breakers, circuits, grounding, bonding, devices, and residential service equipment Ability to independently diagnose and complete residential service work Strong customer-service and communication skills Ability to explain technical electrical issues to homeowners in plain language Professional appearance and communication Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record Ability to work independently and take responsibility for assigned calls Ability to pass applicable employment and background requirements Candidates with less than 5 years of relevant residential service experience will not be considered. Sales Experience Is a Plus Previous residential service sales experience is strongly preferred but is not required. We are not looking for high-pressure salespeople. We are looking for electricians who can: Properly diagnose the customer's concern Identify legitimate safety, reliability, and electrical-system issues Explain those findings clearly Provide appropriate repair and improvement options Help the customer understand the difference between an immediate repair and a more comprehensive solution Confidently discuss larger electrical projects when appropriate If you have experience with service-based electrical sales, option presentation, average-ticket improvement, or financing conversations, that will be considered a significant advantage.
