An Electrician works on electrical systems in buildings. Installs electrical wiring and lighting in new construction, and repairs or upgrade wiring, outlets or other parts of older electrical systems. Checks safety and makes installations or repairs that are in compliance with local building codes. May also specialize in electrical work required in different manufacturing industries, electrical systems for cars, plane or boats, or electrical and lighting work in the film industry.
The operators work on three schedules of 7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm, and 11pm-7am. - Mechanics/electricians work 7am-3pm, unless overtime is deemed necessary by the plant manager.
Job Description:
Maintains Electrical Controls and associated equipment at water and wastewater plants, wastewater and water distribution facilities, wellfields, and tanks. Installs, inspects, maintains, repairs, troubleshoots, calibrates, programs, modifies, upgrades and tests a wide variety of electrical, electronic, and instrumentation equipment and software related to the water treatment plant and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems. Installs, maintains, repairs and replaces electrical, electronic and instrument systems and equipment. Services SCADA system and monitors, flowmeters, pump station alarm (dialers), and security systems (CCTV) in secured locations.
Essential Job Functions :
Works around medium voltage, rotating equipment and various hazardous chemicals Installs, maintains, repairs, and tests industrial electrical wiring systems, fixtures, motors, generators, transformers, and other industrial electrical and/or electronic equipment safely and efficiently Maintains switches, switch components, and transformers Tests equipment for possible electrical trouble; repairs industrial electrical equipment and related components Repairs and replaces industrial electrical and/or electronic panels, fuses, switches, and wiring Lays out, tests, calibrates, and installs instruments and related devices used for controlling automatic equipment for measuring flow, pressure, temperature, etc. Maintains adequate records relating to installation, maintenance, testing, repair, and replacement of instruments, controls, and related devices Procures parts and services as needed in accordance with the procurement policies and procedures Assists in preparing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) Ensures compliance with safety regulations and standard operating procedures May be required to perform "stand-by duty ", being available and responding to off-duty emergency call-ins to effect repairs to malfunctioning electrical, electronic and/or instrument systems Performs related work as required Job Requirements- Have successfully graduated from an accredited high school or trade school, or possess an acceptable G.E.D. certificate, preferably supplemented with trade courses in industrial electricity, electronics or instrumentation Minimum of four (4) years of experience with instrumentation and controls. Additional qualifying experience or completion of coursework at an accredited college or university in a job-related field, may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required experience or education Electrician Journeyman License or Certification in Electronics or equivalent is preferred The position involves medium physical demands, such as exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. Ability to lift, stoop, bend, crawl, kneel and climb ladders up to 30 feet in performing a variety of job-related tasks.
