Journeyman Electrician (Residential & Light Commercial)

20-25 based on experience Position Overview We are seeking a licensed Journeyman Electrician to join our growing team. This position is ideal for an experienced electrician who can independently complete residential electrical service work while also assisting with light commercial projects. The ideal candidate is highly skilled, safety-focused, customer-oriented, and capable of troubleshooting, repairing, and installing electrical systems with minimal supervision. This role requires someone who takes pride in producing quality workmanship, maintains a professional appearance, and can safely operate a company vehicle while representing our company at customer locations. Essential Responsibilities Independently perform residential electrical service, repair, remodeling, and installation work. Diagnose electrical issues and determine effective repair solutions. Install, repair, and replace: Electrical panels and breakers Service equipment Lighting systems Receptacles and switches Ceiling fans Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors Dedicated circuits EV charger circuits Whole-home surge protection Interior and exterior electrical systems Read and interpret electrical blueprints, wiring diagrams, and specifications. Install and troubleshoot electrical systems in light commercial environments. Ensure all work complies with the current National Electrical Code (NEC), Florida Building Code, and applicable local codes. Perform electrical inspections and identify code deficiencies. Communicate professionally with homeowners, contractors, inspectors, and project managers. Complete service documentation accurately and maintain organized job records. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Safely operate and maintain a company service vehicle and assigned tools. Participate in on-call or emergency service work as required. Required Qualifications Current Florida-recognized Journeyman Electrician license (county or municipal license recognized under Florida reciprocity requirements). Minimum 5 years of residential electrical experience. Minimum 2 years of commercial electrical experience preferred. Ability to work independently with little or no supervision. Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities.
Thorough knowledge of:
Residential wiring methods Service upgrades Panel replacements Load calculations Grounding and bonding NEC requirements Florida electrical codes Ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics. Experience using electrical testing equipment including: Multimeters Clamp meters Circuit tracers Voltage testers Strong customer service and communication skills. Ability to safely lift 75 pounds and work: On ladders In attics In crawl spaces Outdoors in Florida weather Driver Requirements Because this position includes operating a company vehicle: Valid Florida Driver License. Clean driving record with no major traffic violations . No DUI or reckless driving convictions. Ability to meet company insurance requirements for operating company vehicles. Safe driving habits and commitment to vehicle care.
Preferred Qualifications Experience with:
Generator installations Whole-home surge protection EV charger installation Smart home devices Low-voltage wiring Commercial tenant improvements New construction Service work OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification. Experience working directly with building inspectors. Ability to estimate small residential jobs.
