ELECTRICIAN I QUALIFICATIONS
(1) High school diploma or equivalent. (2) Electrical training preferred. (3) One (1) year experience in electrical or other trades or possess electrical industry certification or workforce certification in area (if no certification is held, must obtain industry certification or be enrolled in workforce training in electrical program within 1 year) (4) Valid Florida driver's license. (5) Valid Florida Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL), preferred (6) Satisfactory criminal background check and drug screening.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge in building and construction. Ability to work as a team member and to follow oral and written instructions. Knowledge of the standard practices, methods, tools and materials of the trade. Knowledge of local, state and national electrical codes, hazards of the trade and precautionary measures. Knowledge of the hazards of the trade and appropriate precautionary measures. Ability to learn knowledge of 277-480 voltage, learn to locate and repair defects in electrical systems and equipment. Ability to climb and work on ladders, scaffolds, personnel lifts and platforms at various heights. Ability to use the tools, materials and equipment of the electrical trade. Ability to perform crossover work in several trade areas. Knowledge and understanding of preventive maintenance programs. Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions. Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requirements. Ability to troubleshoot problems and implement corrective measures. Working knowledge of computers, and the ability to communicate orally and in writing. Ability to maintain records.

JOB GOAL
To assist in maintaining schools and other facilities so that students and staff can work in a healthy and safe environment.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • (1) Test, repair and maintain fluorescent and mercury vapor fixtures.
  • (2) Install, modify and maintain all electrical and related systems and equipment.
  • (3) Test small and large motors.
  • (4) Operate vehicles in a safe and lawful manner.
  • (5) Maintain tools and equipment in good working order.
  • (6) Assist other trades as needed.
  • (7) Secure small parts and supplies on local market through an open purchase order.

  • Essential Performance Responsibilities
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Heavy Work:
Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force as needed to move objects. Ability to climb ladder; must be able to work at height levels at minimum of 10 feet.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Approved Unit Compensation plan, pay grade 23. 12 months 8 hours per day

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel. Board Approved July 21, 2020
