An Electrician works on electrical systems in buildings. Installs electrical wiring and lighting in new construction, and repairs or upgrade wiring, outlets or other parts of older electrical systems. Checks safety and makes installations or repairs that are in compliance with local building codes. May also specialize in electrical work required in different manufacturing industries, electrical systems for cars, plane or boats, or electrical and lighting work in the film industry.

Job Description

Performs installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of a variety of electrical systems, equipment and solutions
  • Install, maintain, modify and repair all electrical distribution systems and associated electrical equipment.
  • Inspect and test components of electrical systems, including transformers, transfer switches, etc.
  • Complete work orders and record material utilized on jobs.
  • Run computer cables, connect computer jacks, plugs and test for adequate operation. (PLC experience).
  • Utilize electrical schematics and manufacturer's installation manuals to complete assigned projects.
  • Survey electrical systems, circuits and schematics.
  • Inspect work to ensure compliance with internal and external standards.
  • Follow proper safety procedures (PPE, LOTO, proper grounding, and proper test procedures i.e. to minimize chance of shock or accident).
  • Perform related work as required.
