Checks safety and makes installations or repairs that are in compliance with local building codes. May also specialize in electrical work required in different manufacturing industries, electrical systems for cars, plane or boats, or electrical and lighting work in the film industry.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITES
Perform a variety of tasks in the maintenance, repair or Center operations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to: Perform electrical repairs, including lights and laundry appliances. Ensure mechanical equipment is in working order and fixed as necessary. Analyze appliances to detect any problems and repair as necessary. Complete general building maintenance as needed. Install and replace floors, stairs and piping as needed. Repair doors, windows, walls, ceilings, roofs and other parts of buildings. Maintain and repair air conditioning and heating systems as required.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent or equivalent experience. Ability to safely use common power and hand tools. HVAC knowledge and repair skills a plus.. Experience installing and replacing plumbing systems. Self-starter with good time management skills. Have a philosophy of animal care and respect that blends with the Center's mission. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Attention to detail and commitment to excellence demonstrated by the delivery of quality and timely outcomes. Strong interpersonal skills are necessary. Able to establish and maintain effective and professional working relations with coworkers and other department personnel, and to do so in accordance with The Center for Great Apes Employee Handbook. OTHER Willing and able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, nights, and holidays. Proof of negative tuberculosis (TB) screening within past three years. Proof of Covid and Flu immunizations. Negative pre-employment drug screening. Must be Authorized to work in the
UNITED STATES. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Be able to lift 75 pounds and carry for a short distance routinely. Be able to work outdoors in inclement weather, including rain, heat, and humidity. Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time.
