IAS Technician Shaw Electric Inc - 4.0 Davenport, IA Job Details 1 day ago Benefits On-the-job training Qualifications Customer communication Driver's License Journeyman Electrician Full Job Description IAS is the engineering division of Shaw Electric and we are excited to announce an opening for an IAS Technician. The IAS Technician successfully provides electrical services on projects at customer facilities. Services include PLC and HMI systems, building control panels and assisting engineering and automation staff. The Technician is responsible for the profitable completion of assigned tasks and/or projects by determining and applying proper operational procedures, and through the planning, management, and coordination of labor, material and/or equipment. The IAS Technician has demonstrated knowledge of and ability to perform all responsibilities and duties required of a Journeyman Electrician. The position requires advanced level electrician skills and background. The details of the IAS Technician are as follows: Constructs and installs electrical and control systems by building panels, terminate wiring, and installing power and control wiring to the customers' satisfaction and according to industry codes/requirements. Performs basic trouble shooting on induction motors, relays and logic, low voltage power systems, single machines (electrical and mechanical), simple PLC controls, basic physical instrument loops, and simple communication systems. Performs thermography studies by taking thermography images, identifying overheating and other electrical issues. Ensures work meets customer expectations by o Assessing the technical challenges of customers and proposing solutions which satisfy the technical and operational needs clients o Researching and collecting pertinent data for analysis and classification regarding project tasks and making appropriate decisions regarding customer equipment and performing services. o Implementing methods/processes such as double checking work, consulting others, checking prints and other written specifications Interfaces with customers, IAS and Shaw Electric staff and others to ensure needs are understood in attainment of successful completion of large projects. Promotes Shaw Electric/IAS services by identifying and persuading potential customers to use our services and providing existing customers with exceptional service and forecasting their potential needs. Oversees project job material - including ordering, receiving material on-site (checking for accuracy and condition of material), processes paperwork promptly, and ensure timely return and check-in of unused materials. Oversees jobsite housekeeping (including scrap wire). Education - one to two years of college/trade school education in engineering, electrical or related field required associates degree in electrical controls preferred. Completed apprenticeship program and is a Journeyman Electrician required; State of Iowa Journeyman Electrical Class A license and/or
CCST-ISA
preferred. Experience - 10,000 or more certified on-the-job training hours and one year related experience. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities - Megger, Multi-meters, Thermography camera, and soldering. NEC practical knowledge Electronic schematic reading AC-DC theory Basic PLC programming Ladder diagrams reading and creating Basic relay logic Electrical one line diagrams reading and creating Basic instrumentation P&ID reading Basic industrial controls Basic mechanical systems Communications networking AC motors Electrical and automation standards Special motors Basic estimation techniques Basic drive operation & theory Leadership skills Basic electronics Project supervision & organization skills Basic power systems Thermography data gathering and reporting High voltage electrical safety Arc flash data gathering Has specific product knowledge of AB PLCs, AB Drives, AB HMIs, and pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems Licenses/Certifications - Must have valid drivers' license; able to pass and maintain an Iowa State Electrical Class A Journeyman License.
