Overview Pike Systems is looking for an experienced, self-directed field technician who can diagnose and repair commercial equipment in the field. This is not an entry-level technician position . Our technicians troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and electronic systems on commercial floor-care equipment, including automatic scrubbers, extractors, vacuums and robotic cleaning equipment. You'll work primarily at customer facilities throughout Northern Illinois, diagnosing equipment failures, identifying needed parts, completing repairs and communicating directly with customers. We're looking for someone who has already developed strong diagnostic skills working on equipment such as forklifts, material-handling equipment, automotive systems, small engines, HVAC, industrial equipment, commercial appliances, powered equipment or similar electrical/mechanical systems. You do not need previous floor-care equipment experience. We can teach the equipment. We need you to bring the mechanical/electrical aptitude, troubleshooting ability and experience working independently. What we're looking for 3+ years of hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing mechanical/electrical equipment Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot equipment failures rather than simply replace parts Comfortable reading wiring diagrams, schematics and/or service manuals Experience using diagnostic tools such as a multimeter Ability to independently diagnose equipment at a customer location Strong mechanical aptitude with working knowledge of electrical circuits Ability to identify needed parts and accurately document repairs Professional communication skills for working directly with customers Ability to manage a field schedule and follow repairs through completion Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record Relevant backgrounds may include: industrial maintenance, forklift/material-handling repair, automotive or diesel repair, HVAC, commercial appliance repair, small-engine/power-equipment repair, field service, electromechanical equipment or similar technical trades. Preferred, but not required: experience with commercial floor-care equipment, battery systems, chargers, motors, pumps, hydraulics or robotic equipment.

Pay:

$24.00 - $28.00 per hour Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
