  • National/Industrial installs, maintains, tests, and repairs electrical systems and equipment on industrial and commercial construction projects across the United States.
This role performs electrical work from rough-in through commissioning while ensuring compliance with applicable codes, project specifications, and GEMCO's standards for safety, quality, and productivity. Working under the direction of the Foreman and project leadership, the Electrician supports the successful execution of complex electrical installations, coordinates with other trades, and provides guidance to apprentices and helpers. This position plays a vital role in delivering high-quality electrical systems that meet customer expectations and project objectives. This position requires travel throughout the United States. Typical rotation is 17 days in the field followed by 4 days at home. Primary Responsibilities and Duties Install, terminate, and test electrical conductors, panels, switchgear, transformers, motor control equipment, lighting systems, and associated electrical devices in accordance with applicable codes and project requirements. Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install conduit, raceways, cable tray systems, and electrical supports. Pull, route, label, terminate, and secure conductors and cables according to project specifications and industry standards. Install, wire, and connect controls, sensors, motors, instrumentation, and related electrical equipment. Perform continuity, insulation resistance, voltage, and functional testing and document results as required. Troubleshoot electrical systems, equipment, and control circuits to identify and correct installation or operational issues. Read and interpret blueprints, one-line diagrams, electrical schematics, specifications, and installation details. Plan work activities and material requirements to support efficient project execution and productivity. Coordinate daily work activities with Foremen, Superintendents, project teams, and other trades to maintain schedules and project objectives. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with company and project requirements. Inspect completed work to verify compliance with quality standards, project specifications, and code requirements. Assist with startup, commissioning, and turnover activities for electrical systems and equipment. Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to apprentices and helpers while promoting craftsmanship and professional development. Identify and communicate potential safety hazards, quality concerns, and project challenges to field leadership. Follow and reinforce all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements at all times. Traits and Competencies Strong knowledge of commercial and industrial electrical systems, equipment, materials, and installation methods. Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, specifications, and construction documents. Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable industry standards. Skilled in the use of electrical testing equipment, power tools, and hand tools. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team environment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work. Effective verbal communication and collaboration skills with field leadership, coworkers, and other trades. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions while maintaining productivity and accountability. Strong organizational and time-management skills in a fast-paced construction environment.
