The corporate office in Hammond, Indiana, is seeking an experienced Industrial Electrician.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
Inspects and assesses the condition of electrical production equipment and electrical-mechanical systems. In some incidents, in accordance with established schedules, maintains, diagnoses, and repairs the equipment or systems as needed. Installs items such as wiring, switches, relays, and circuit breakers/panels. Reads and interprets plans, drawings, specifications, and work orders to determine work requirements or modifications and the sequence of those repairs and installations or modifications. Troubleshoots and makes necessary electrical repairs. Operates a variety of electrical testing equipment to locate and determine the types of electrical malfunctions, including voltage meters. Removes, installs, and repairs light fixtures, including ballasts and fluorescent fixtures. Periodically maintains and inspects crane systems, including replacing crane brakes and brake pads. Uses power tools, including drills, and other machine shop tools to perform repair and maintenance work. Cleans and maintains those tools and equipment used on the job. Performs building maintenance including electrical repairs to heating units. Engages in mechanical maintenance activities, time and need permitting. Other duties as assigned by the Foreman or other designated supervisor. Organizes and maintains the electric shop.
Skills, Abilities and Experience Required:
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, such as one-line diagrams. A plus if the individual can troubleshoot and repair mechanical problems associated with motors, starters, sensors, switches, etc. Knowledge and experience in the maintenance and repair of overhead cranes preferred; A plus if the individual has PLC experience, including troubleshooting and/or programming. Willingness to repair and troubleshoot mechanical problems. At least four (4) years of industrial electrical experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment. A strong electrical background with some training in mechanical maintenance is desired. Ability to solder electrical components.
