Job Description

The Journeyman Electrician will report to the Maintenance Manager, performs maintenance and preventative maintenance functions; operates maintenance/electrical equipment; follows blueprint designs; dismantles and rigs equipment and materials; participates in achieving the company quality goals; operates in compliance with company safety practices; and performs other duties as assigned.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, confirming that equipment is electrically safe and secure, and provide documentation that lockout is complete, along with strict adherence to NFPA 70E and Wurtland Oil Works Electrical Safe Work Practices and Procedures. Perform maintenance and repairs on Low and Medium Voltage Electrical Distribution Equipment, Motors, Variable Frequency Drives, Branch Circuits, Electric Heat Tracing, and Outdoor Lighting. Operates in compliance with company safety practices: complies with and aids in the development of departmental safety rules; ensures all equipment is in good working order and operates in a safe manner; follows procedures; monitors area for hazards; uses safety equipment when required; and maintains safe, clean work area. Participates in achieving the company quality goals: dedicated to continuous improvement; strives for a better understanding of our customers' requirements; maintains proficiency in problem solving techniques; embraces the concept of teamwork; takes ownership for the quality of the products produced and services performed; and provides excellent internal and external customer service.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Must have High School Diploma or GED. Must have a valid driver's license. Must already possess and be able to maintain a Journeymen License.
  • In lieu of a degree Wutland Oil Works will consider those with 5 or more years of relevant military experience.
  • Must be able to pass our Wurtland Oil Works Electrical written and hands-on skill demonstration test.
  • Five years relevant work experience is required.
  • Works in a team environment in a clean, safe, and respectful manner.
  • Independent worker with minimal supervision
  • Cooperative attitude and the ability to make critical judgments during the production process are necessary.
  • Possesses the written, verbal, and interaction skills necessary to work with teams across the site.
Proficient in the use of a computer and common applications including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), HR / timekeeping, and online training to complete job requirements. Understand the requirements of
NFPA 70E
for the usage of personal protective equipment (PPE) and electrical PPE needed to ensure personal safety and the safety of coworkers. Understand National Electrical Code requirements for industrial and hazardous locations. Experience in any of the following Industrial Facilities is required. Oil, Gas, Chemical, power generation and manufacturing.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires the ability to work in seated or standing positions for prolonged periods of time; perform sustained manual activities at moderate to heavy levels of exertion, including lifting and moving loads of minimum of 50 pounds, climb ladders/stairs and work on elevated platforms; use hand tools and operate fixed and mobile plant equipment; work and travel throughout plant environment of varied temperature and humidity; a full range of motion; and to wear personal protective devices such as harnesses, respirators, gloves, hard hat, safety glasses, safety shoes, etc.
