Job Description

This position, located in District 07 of the Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), is assigned to Unit 720, oversee the Bridge Maintenance Electrical Crew, and reports directly to the Bridge Maintenance Transportation Operations Manager. The incumbent must be self-motivated and be able to perform duties many times with or without minimal supervision and be able to interpret unforeseen conditions as they may arise. While overseeing the electrical maintenance and repairs on movable and stationary bridges, ferry vessels, buildings, generators, rest areas, pumping stations, and other DOTD assets as assigned. Please visit our DOTD Career Center for more information about our agency: http://wwwsp.dotd.la.gov/Inside_LaDOTD/Divisions/Mgmt_Finance/HR/Pages/Career_Center.aspx Two years of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been on-the-job experience: Four years of experience or training in the electrical trade, two years of which must have been working with specialized systems such as high-voltage distribution lines, power plants, or heavy, high-voltage mechanical or industrial equipment, or with electrical or electronic systems such as traffic signals. Job Duties:
Supervises the daily activities of bridge electrician specialists engaged in troubleshooting electrical, hydraulic and mechanical problems on any of seven moveable bridges, three ferry vessels, buildings, generators, rest area and other assets throughout District 07. Makes inspections to determine the need for repairs and estimates cost of repairs. Requisitions materials. Updates and files cost and time records for all projects. Provides training and guidance to subordinates. Assigns work to subordinates and approves work products. Approves leave requests. Accounts for labor, equipment, and materials on daily work orders charging appropriate control sections and/or asset numbers for the correct distribution of expenses.
