Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Sugarmill Electrician to oversee all electrical operations within our sugar manufacturing facility. This important role involves leading a team of electricians, ensuring the safe and efficient installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical systems. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in industrial, commercial, and some residential electrical work, demonstrate strong leadership abilities, and uphold the highest standards of electrical safety and compliance.
Duties Diagnose machinery issues:
Isolate and fix electrical faults quickly during high-volume milling seasons to prevent plant shutdowns.
Control component service:
Troubleshoot and replace components like starters, switches, fuses, relays, and variable frequency drives. Coordinate with engineering teams on upgrades or renovations involving industrial electrical systems and low-voltage controls like programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
Heavy equipment maintenance:
Service large industrial motors, MCCs, Generators, and Conveyors.
Conduit and Wiring :
Measure, bend, and run conduit. Pull heavy-gauge wire to route power safely throughout the mill
Residential :
Install, maintain, and repair electrical panels, wiring, and fixtures in company owned homes.
Records:
Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and safety checks to support operational efficiency.
Blueprints interpretation:
Read and update complex electrical schematics, technical blueprints, and line-diagrams.
System modernizations:
Retrofit older mill infrastructure with modern power distribution and energy-efficient control hardware.
Leadership :
Lead a team of electricians and other tradespeople to complete projects on time. Qualifications Proven experience as an industrial electrician with a strong background in commercial electrical systems. Extensive knowledge of NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code), NEC (National Electrical Code), local electrical codes, and safety procedures. Demonstrated ability to read electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams accurately. Hands-on experience with high-voltage wiring, troubleshooting electrical systems, and working on construction sites or renovation projects. Proficiency with diagnostic tools such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, power tools, hand tools, and schematics reading software. Strong leadership skills with previous supervisory or team lead experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting. Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail in diagnosing complex electrical issues. Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs), low voltage systems, and blueprint reading is highly desirable.
