An Electrician works on electrical systems in buildings. Installs electrical wiring and lighting in new construction, and repairs or upgrade wiring, outlets or other parts of older electrical systems. Checks safety and makes installations or repairs that are in compliance with local building codes. May also specialize in electrical work required in different manufacturing industries, electrical systems for cars, plane or boats, or electrical and lighting work in the film industry.
Generator Technician We are looking for an experienced and motivated Generator Technician to join our growing service team. This position is responsible for the installation, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and startup of permanently installed standby generator systems and automatic transfer switches (ATS). Our technicians work on critical backup power systems serving residential, commercial, municipal, and industrial customers. If you have strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills and take pride in delivering dependable service, we'd like to hear from you. Responsibilities Perform preventative maintenance on standby generator systems. Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, fuel, cooling, and control system issues. Troubleshoot and service automatic transfer switches (ATS). Perform generator startups, commissioning, and operational testing. Conduct load bank testing and verify system performance. Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals. Complete service reports, inspection records, and maintenance documentation. Communicate professionally with customers regarding system condition and repair recommendations. Maintain company vehicle, tools, and equipment. Follow all OSHA, NFPA, and company safety procedures. Participate in an on-call emergency service rotation as needed. Qualifications Experience servicing permanently installed standby generators. Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills. Knowledge of diesel, natural gas, and propane-powered generator systems. Experience working with automatic transfer switches (ATS). Ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams. Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic abilities. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. and work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Preferred Qualifications Factory training or certifications from manufacturers such as Generac, Cummins, Kohler, CAT, or MTU. Experience commissioning new generator installations. Familiarity with generator controllers and digital monitoring systems. Electrical license or equivalent field experience is a plus. Strong customer service and communication skills.
