Status:

Temporary, part-time, non-exempt employment on a W-2.

Compensation:

This is a non-exempt W2 position (eligible for overtime) with an hourly rate of $18/hour (overtime rate is $27/hour). Anticipated total of 267 regular hours plus up to 79 overtime hours during load in, performances and load out (July through August). Payments to be remitted in the week following work hours (typically on Thursday/Friday), based on the submission ofpleted timesheets.

Responsibilities:

The 2026 production ofA Midsummer Night's Dream celebrates our 30th year of sharing Free Shakespeare productions with Greater Boston audiences. The Spot Operator/Staff Electrician, under the supervision of the Production Electrician, will assist with prep, load in and load out, and electrical maintenance tasks throughout the run of the show as well as run spotlight for all technical rehearsals and performances.

Responsibilities include:

Production Electrician Qualifications:

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in theatre 2+ years experience as a spot operator or staff electrician Ability to work independently and as part of a team Experience with outdoor theatre a plus On-site job requirements: Operate spotlight for all technical rehearsals and performances Attend load in, load out, and all technical rehearsals and performances Ability to lift and carry 50lbs Ability to navigate stairs and uneven terrain Ability to navigate in variable high/low light settings in outdoor conditions Ability to utilize auditorymunication systems Working at height (e.g. in boom lift, from spot seat, or on truss) Spot lights are operated from chairs hung from the downstage edge of the truss system; spot operators wear a harness with fall arrest system whenever climbing to and operating the spot light 18+ years of age Experience with and ability to meet all duties and responsibilities as listed above
