We are seeking an experienced, licensed Electrician for part-time, flexible work supporting a variety of commercial and residential electrical projects at an independent private school. Responsibilities Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems in commercial and industrial environments, including high-voltage wiring and low-voltage systems. Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to accurately execute wiring and system layouts. Diagnose electrical issues using tools such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, and troubleshooting techniques to identify faults quickly and efficiently. Ensure all work complies with NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code), NEC standards, and local electrical codes for safety and quality assurance. Perform routine inspections of electrical systems, troubleshoot problems, and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime. Use hand tools, power tools, and construction experience to safely carry out installation or renovation tasks on-site. Follow strict electrical safety procedures during all phases of work to protect yourself and others from hazards associated with high voltage or complex systems. Requirements Valid Massachusetts Class B Journeyman Electrician License or higher. Proven experience as an electrician with a focus on industrial or commercial electrical systems. Strong knowledge of electrical code, NEC standards, and local electrical codes. Ability to read electrical schematics, blueprints, and schematics accurately. Experience working with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), high-voltage wiring, low-voltage systems, and troubleshooting electrical issues. Familiarity with testing equipment such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, and multimeters for diagnostics. Construction site experience including renovation projects or new installations in commercial or industrial settings. Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment safely and effectively. Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail in diagnosing complex electrical problems.
