Job Description
About this role Local journeyman electricians needed in Bethesda, MD for commercial and campus electrical work. You'll be troubleshooting mid-level control and power systems, doing new installation wiring and upgrades, and supporting mechanical and electrical repairs across building systems. Day-to-day work includes replacing motors, starters, relays and primary control components, reading ladder logic and schematics, and maintaining automatic transfer switches, UPS/battery storage, emergency generators, and photovoltaic systems. This role requires hands-on, practical skills and the ability to work varying shifts - nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. What you'll do Troubleshoot and repair mid-level electrical and control systems using schematics and ladder logic. Remove and replace motors, starters, relays, limit switches, fuses, and primary control components. Perform new wiring hook-ups and upgrade existing equipment on commercial and campus systems. Assemble, inspect, adjust, repair, or replace faulty parts and wiring on electronic and electrical devices. Support mechanical and electrical repairs; perform maintenance on ATS, UPS/battery systems, emergency generators, and photovoltaic systems. Read and interpret drawings, electrical diagrams, and code requirements on-site to complete assigned work. What we're looking for Journeyman-level commercial electrical experience with hands-on troubleshooting and repairs. Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and ladder logic for PLCs and control systems. Experience with medium-voltage and high-voltage systems, generators, UPS/battery systems, and photovoltaic equipment. Skilled at removing/replacing motors, starters, relays, limit switches, fuses, and other primary control components. Familiarity with Federal, State, and local electrical codes and ability to apply code requirements on site. Willingness to work varying shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
