Job Title:
Solar Journeyman Electrician Job Description This role focuses on installing, maintaining, and repairing photovoltaic (PV) solar systems on a large-scale solar project in Maine. The Solar Journeyman Electrician uses their state license and extensive field experience to perform safe, code-compliant electrical work, support high daily production goals, and contribute to the successful delivery of a multi-month solar installation. Responsibilities Install, maintain, and repair photovoltaic (PV) solar systems, including mounting and wiring solar panels and inverters. Test electrical connections and system performance to ensure safe, efficient, and code-compliant operation. Troubleshoot electrical and system issues, identify root causes, and implement effective repairs or adjustments. Land and bend conduit accurately for both above-ground and underground electrical work. Lead underground electrical installations, including routing and securing conduit and conductors. Perform electrical terminations, including proper torqueing, labeling, and verification of connections. Manage wiring throughout the array, including wire management, mod-to-mod connections, and string harness installations. Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and construction documents to ensure correct and efficient installations. Follow all applicable electrical and safety codes, standards, and site-specific safety procedures. Use power and non-powered hand tools safely and efficiently to complete daily tasks. Work collaboratively with other electricians, technicians, and construction team members to meet daily production goals. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including proper handling of tools, materials, and equipment. Adapt to changing weather conditions and site circumstances while maintaining productivity and quality. Participate in any required testing, such as VOC testing, and accurately document results as needed. Essential Skills Active Journeyman Electrician license in the state of Maine. At least 6 years of work experience as a licensed electrician. Experience installing, maintaining, and repairing photovoltaic (PV) solar systems or similar electrical systems. Proficiency in landing and bending conduit for both surface and underground installations. Demonstrated ability to perform electrical terminations, wire management, mod-to-mod connections, and string harness installations. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and related technical documents. Knowledge of and adherence to electrical codes, safety standards, and best practices. Capability to perform VOC testing and other electrical testing procedures as required. Strong ability to work safely and efficiently with power and non-powered hand tools. Willingness and ability to complete a background check as a condition of employment. Ability to work 50-60 hours per week, including overtime on Saturdays and weather-related adjustments on Sundays. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working on large-scale solar or renewable energy projects. Strong teamwork orientation and ability to collaborate effectively with field crews and site leadership. Positive attitude and strong work ethic while performing tasks in a demanding outdoor environment. Comfort working in a fast-paced setting with daily production goals and time-sensitive milestones. Work Environment This position is based on an outdoor solar construction site in Maine and involves frequent exposure to the full range of local climate conditions, including extreme temperatures. Work takes place on uneven ground and in a fast-paced environment driven by daily production goals. There is little to no permanent shelter on site; a trailer is available for changing and staging, and portable toilets are provided for use during working hours. Team members must arrive each day prepared to work in the prevailing weather conditions with appropriate personal attire suitable for outdoor construction work. The standard schedule is 1st shift, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with Saturdays typically scheduled as overtime and Sundays reserved as a buffer for weather-related adjustments. The role requires 50-60 hours per week on a consistent basis. Work involves regular use of power tools and non-powered hand tools in a construction setting, with a strong emphasis on safety, productivity, and coordination with site supervision. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Franklin, ME. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $60.00/hr.
